O-I New Zealand, as a leader in the manufacturing of glass bottles and containers, is committed to operating in a sustainable manner to minimise its impact on the local and global environment for the present and the future.

O-I New Zealand will strive for continual improvement which is appropriate to the nature, scale and location of its activities, products and services, in order to prevent pollution and use resources efficiently.

O-I New Zealand is committed to:

  1. Integrating sustainability considerations and environmental risk minimisation as an essential component of the overall business decision making process.

  2. Complying with and exceeding, where practicable, all applicable environmental legal and other requirements.

  3. Actively managing its environmental impacts by setting measurable and achievable objectives and targets to ensure continual improvement in environmental performance.

  4. Maximising energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

  5. Efficient water and raw material usage through minimising waste and maximising reuse and recycling.

  6. Assigning responsibility and providing effective training to all employees in order to manage and contribute to environmental improvements.

  7. Effectively communicating environmental initiatives and progress to key stakeholders.

  8. Implementing and maintaining an environmental management system to effectively manage our environmental impacts in a systematic manner and that meets the requirements of AS/NZ ISO14001:2004.

  9. Continually reassessing all commitments made in the light of changing technologies, business requirements and best practice.
